No Prescription
Cosopt belongs to a class of drugs known as beta-blockers, and dorzolamide belongs to a class of drugs known as carbonic anhydrase inhibitors.
Cosopt contains two drugs prescribed to treat high pressure inside the eye due to glaucoma (open angle-type) or other eye diseases (ocular hypertension).
Cosopt works by decreasing the amount of fluid within the eye.
Lowering high pressure inside the eye helps to prevent blindness.
Contraindications
Cosopt is contraindicated if you have any of the following conditions:
- If you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast-feeding;
- If you are taking other medicines, including those available to buy without a prescription, herbal or complementary medicines;
- If you have ever had an allergic reaction to this or any other medicine;
- If you have heart failure (a condition where the pumping action of the heart is reduced) or heart block (a slow and irregular heart beat);

Interactions
Do not take Cosopt with any of the following drugs:
- Acetazolamide;
- Calcium channel blockers;
- Certain antidepressants;
- Certain medications for diabetes;
- Clonidine;
- Digoxin;
- Diltiazem;
- Epinephrine;
- High doses of aspirin or related salicylates;
- Insulin;
- Methazolamide;
- Methyldopa;
- Oral beta-blockers (propranolol);
- Oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors;
- Quinidine;
- Reserpine;
- SSRIs such as fluoxetine;
- Sulfonylureas such as glyburide;
- Theophylline;
- Topiramate;
- Verapamil;
Side Effects
